Our first title, Flaunt, has been gathering accolades, and we are so thrilled with the quality of the work that we are powering ahead with another collection, Flaunt2, in time for next year's Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. We can't afford to pay contributors at present, but we hope that in time, this will change. As with the first edition, there's no money, only glory. We're looking for short fiction (up to about 3,000 words), or poetry of any length. Deadline: January 17 2008. Email the: editor@lesbian-ebooks.com.au

Festival runs 15th February to 7 March 2009

Pick up your pen and get writing! The short story competition theme for 2009 - War and peace - has been created to inspire writers. You're open to interpret this theme freely however stories must feature New Mardi Gras values. Prizes this year include luxury nights in Sydney hotels, Writers Centre memberships, bookshop vouchers and more.
Word Limit: 500 words. Closing Date: 5pm 5th January 2009.
Entry Form required. Fees (per story submitted): $15.00 $10.00 Conc

Perverse Verse 2007: Queer Poets Read

Perverse Verse 2007 This event is now a Mardi Gras festival tradition celebrating GLBTQ poetry. Sponsored by the Feminist Bookshop, and held at the NSW Writers Centre in Callan Park, Rozelle, the afternoon features readings by some of this city's best known poets and authors. Last year's collection was a leading download; this year's pdf draws together 11 poets and some of the work presented on stage 3 February 2007. Featured poets include Michael Farrell, Beatriz Copello, Jill Jones, John Rule, Julia Phillips, Michael West, Gabe Jones, Neil Stuart, Tricia Dearborn, Roni Potts, and Bronwyn Winter.

The 2006 event featured readings from the following authors:

Tricia Dearborn, Beatriz Copello, Bronwyn Winter, Gary Dunne, Jenni Nixon, Keztril, Neil Stuart, Stella Frossinakis, Roni Potts, Jill Jones, Ian MacNeill, Michael West.

The 2006 event happened on Saturday 11th of February; about 150 people turned up for the readings and drinks in the sunset on the verandas, and a chance to chat with the poets.
